River Importance

Why is a river important?

From land to ocean,

seawater evaporates,

water vapors become clouds,

moisture in carriage

releases as precipitation,

freshwater feeds rivers and streams,

water cycling,

replenishing,

an essential for all living.

What river is the same?

A Geologist wakes on a boat of a Hydrologist’s expedition. Warming sun rays touch the Geologist’s face who begins reading a book aloud. Whenever a word comes out of the Geologist’s mouth, a hint of morning breath arises, which the Geologist becomes consciously constantly aware, which moves the Geologist, practically thinking, to a bowl of mints in the main research cabin of the boat. In the main research cabin of the boat, a Hydrologist greets the Geologist, “Hey, the river’s course is flattening, the river’s meandering, now you can get the—” a bird caws, and the Geologist only hears the last portion of the Hydrologist’s statement, “—ment you need,” which draws the Geologist to ask,

“What’s that I need?” The Hydrologist answers, amongst flocking flapping birds,

“Sediment!” The Geologist responds,

“Oh, yes, thank you, that’s why I’m here.”
